Spire Homes'
People Pride and Community Awards 2011
We held our 2nd People, Pride
& Community Awards at our Annual General Meeting, and
what a success they were!
These awards give you the chance to
nominate neighbours and people within our communities who always go
the extra mile and deserve recognition for their efforts. We were
overwhelmed by the response we received and the stories about our
tenants and the difference they make to others on a daily basis.
The awards were sponsored by Apollo Services, Aaron Services and
Jeakins Weir.
Below are the winners for 2011
and why they were nominated.

category.

“For Audrey, nothing is any trouble for any of the tenants
living in Crispian Court. She watches over them and is
always there to help. She helps a number of our tenants
with cleaning, shopping, assisting them to the doctors,
walking with them in to town or the post office to give
support. She is a great listener and always offers empathy and
support to her friends. She prepares the community room
for bingo and entertainment nights, setting out the tea,
biscuits and cakes. I have never seen Audrey without a
smile on her face."
Carol Eldred, Support Worker,
Spire Homes
“She cares
for her husband Barry who has MS and is in a Wheelchair,
and she also cares for her brother Charles who has the
mentality of a 10 year old child. She cuts our grass for us and
looks after our property when we are away. Nothing is too much
trouble to help us, and we think she is an amazing woman.”
Margaret Varley and Elsie Coleman, tenants
“She is a fantastic asset for the community and
is part of the local community group called
I-Grow in Irthlingborough. She volunteers at all community
events we put on and does fantastic work with young
people. She helps Groundwork run a youth club on Monday
nights. She is such a friendly and caring person who is
always happy to go the extra mile to help somebody
out.”
Shaun Sannerude, East Northamptonshire Council
“Chris has been a key driver for our Human
Utopia project, and is a real young leader. He was a
student leader at our Harmony Camp, where he gave support
workshop about bullying at school and the effects it has on
people. He really is outstanding.”
Joanna Holmes, Extended Services Manager at Rushden Community
College

“Werner is the litter warden for Collyweston,
despite having to use a mobility scooter. He can regularly
be seen combing the village’s streets picking up litter
with a grabber. Every year, he organises a litter collection over
a wider area of the village.”
