A Hidden Gem

The Underground Children’s and Youth Centre in Kings Cliffe is one of the hidden gems within the local area – that’s why Spire Homes have awarded them a £15,000 grant.

The money, which will be paid to them over the next three years, will be used to expand activities, introduce new clubs and projects which will be enjoyed by both young people and their families.

Underground, which currently runs two youth clubs and a drop in Friday evenings for 15-18 year olds, will use the money to create a dedicated arts and crafts space. Local artists will be able to visit and get the young people at the youth club involved in arts and crafts. The space will also allow the youngsters to work on their GCSE or A Level art coursework.

Katy Weeks, Youth Club Leader said: "We are delighted that Spire Homes have chosen us to receive the funding. It will enable us to develop Underground as a children’s and youth facility for all our local youngsters, from King's Cliffe and villages nearby. The grant will give us the financial backing we need to carry on providing these great opportunities for youngsters and their families for years to come."
